valerie lucas
Valerie Lucas is the creator of the Neuroscience-Informed Yoga Teaching™ (NIYT™) framework and founder of Yoga Teacher Academy, an educational platform focused on advancing teaching methodology in modern yoga spaces.
With more than a decade of experience in yoga education and training operations, Valerie helped lead and scale national teacher development programs across more than 200 yoga studios throughout the United States. Her work has included curriculum design, facilitator training, mentorship, continuing education, and large-scale instructor development systems focused on improving both teaching quality and student experience.
Over time, her work evolved beyond simply what teachers deliver and toward understanding how instruction is received, processed, and applied in real time. That evolution became the foundation of NIYT™, a framework that helps teachers better understand readiness, attention, regulation, pacing, language, and the learning environment itself.
Valerie is also the author of Neuroscience-Informed Yoga Teaching: How the Nervous System Shapes Learning, Safety, and Growth and creator of the NIYT™ 20-Hour Professional Certification. Through her writing and educational programs, she is committed to advancing the art of student-centered teaching and helping teachers teach beyond bodies alone.
